About Gay Hangouts
Gay Hangouts is a directory of LGBTQ+ friendly bars, restaurants, hotels, gyms, shops, bathhouses, arts venues, and heritage sites across the US. We built it because finding a current, accurate list for a given city usually means piecing together several out-of-date sources. Our goal is one place with the basics right: address, hours, contact info, and what to expect.
How listings are put together
Every listing starts from public business listings — covering address, hours, phone, ratings, and reviews. The summary and highlights you see on each page are written with AI assistance from those facts, then run through automated checks that flag anything not grounded in the source data. The rule we hold ourselves to is simple — never invent a phone number, an address, hours, or an attribute a venue doesn't have. If a fact isn't in the source data, the page leaves it out rather than guessing.
Keeping listings current
Venues open, close, move, and change hands, and our source data lags behind that. Most venue pages show a "Content last updated" date near the top — that's when our team last wrote or refreshed the page, not a phone call confirming the venue is still open. If you run a venue and something's wrong, use the "Claim or update this listing" link on its page, and we'll fix it.
Browsing without an account
You don't need to sign up or log in to use this site, and we don't want you to have to. Some of what's listed here — bathhouses, cruising spots — isn't something everyone wants tied to an account or a search history. Browse freely; nothing about how you use this site is designed to identify you.
Who's behind this
Gay Hangouts is built and maintained by a small independent team — not a large media company. Questions, corrections, or removal requests can go to hello@gayhangouts.com, and we handle them ourselves.
