Privacy Policy

This page covers what data we collect, why, and what you can do about it. Last updated August 2026. We may update this page as our practices change; the date above always reflects the latest revision.

Browsing the site

You don't need an account to browse, search, or view any listing on this site. We don't require sign-in, and we don't build user profiles. If you use Cloudflare Web Analytics on this site, it's cookieless and aggregate — it tells us how many people visited a page, not who visited it. We don't use tracking cookies or ad pixels. Search requests are rate-limited by IP address to prevent abuse; that's a short-lived check, not a stored log tied to you. The site itself is served and hosted through Cloudflare, and we use Sentry for error monitoring — technical crash reports, not user profiles.

If you submit a claim form

Claiming or updating a listing asks for your name, email, and optionally a phone number. That information is stored in our Cloudflare D1 database so we can verify the claim and follow up with you — it isn't sold, shared with third parties, or used for marketing. We also log the submitting IP address briefly, to catch spam and abuse. A notification email with your submission is sent through Resend, our email delivery provider. If you want your claim-submission data deleted, email us (below) and we'll remove it.

Where venue data comes from

Venue listings (name, address, hours, category, ratings) are compiled from public business listings, not submitted by the venues themselves unless they've claimed their listing. If you're a venue owner and want something corrected or removed, use the "Claim or update this listing" link on your venue's page, or email us directly.

How your data is protected

We take reasonable measures to protect any data we store — traffic to this site is encrypted in transit, and our database isn't publicly accessible. No method of storage or transmission is completely immune to risk, but we don't collect more than what's described on this page, which limits what there is to protect.

Links to other sites

Venue pages link out to third parties — Yelp, venue websites, and map providers — so you can get directions or book directly. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy doesn't cover.

A note on discretion

Some of what's listed here — bathhouses, cruising spots — isn't something everyone wants tied to their name or search history. We don't require an account, we don't track individual visitors, and nothing about how this site works is designed to identify who's looking at what. This site isn't directed at anyone under 18.

Questions or removal requests

Email hello@gayhangouts.com for anything covered on this page — a data deletion request, a correction, or a question about how something works. We handle these ourselves and respond promptly.

This policy describes our current practices in plain language. It isn't a substitute for legal advice, and if you have a specific legal question about your data, consult an attorney in your jurisdiction.
