Gateway Cinema

Independent and first-run films

About

Old-school charm meets indie cinema at Gateway, Fort Lauderdale's oldest movie theater, operating since 1951. The lobby and screening rooms still carry that mid-century feel. They show a smart mix of independent and first-run films, with a consistent lineup of gay-themed titles. It's a straight-friendly space in Wilton Manors, where both quality film and respectful audiences are the draw.

“Fav place to catch a flick”

Gateway is definitely my top choice for watching independent films. The audience is considerate, and the popcorn tastes fantastic. The venue is a bit dated, and the seats don't quite face the screen straight, but I always have a wonderful time.
