About

Bar: Full bar

You might expect a movie theater in Midtown Manhattan to be slick and modern, but AMC Loews 34th Street 14 has a history that goes back to 1920. This is a standard multiplex from the biggest chain in the world, showing Hollywood films and featuring amenities like Signature power recliners and a full bar. It's family-friendly and mixed-gaystraight, making it a casual option for catching blockbusters.

But don't come here expecting a premium IMAX experience. One early review notes the IMAX screen is "much much smaller than it should be" and suggests going uptown for the real deal. With a Yelp rating of 2.9 from over 600 reviews, this is a place where you'll want to manage expectations. Still, if you're in the area and just want to see a new release in a comfortable seat, it does the job.

This theater sits in Midtown Manhattan, surrounded by tourist attractions and commuter crowds. It's a convenient stop for a movie after a day of sightseeing, though you may want to check showtimes ahead given the area's bustle.

The IMAX screen and seating are not genuine IMAX—much smaller than the standard. For the real experience, head to the IMAX theater uptown.
