“Glorious Judith jamison”
My first visit to the Ailey was in the 1970s, and I still remember it clearly—the powerful effect Judith Jamison had on me. When she spun onto the stage, I was amazed. She was the most beautiful person I had ever seen, with a commanding physical presence unlike anyone else. Such a talent may not be seen again. She took control of the stage and held my attention for the rest of the night, and really, for my whole life. This is the peak of dance in New York. Pure enchantment. Absolutely sublime!
