About

Founded in 1926, the American Swedish Historical Museum is the oldest Swedish museum in the United States. Located in South Philly, it preserves and promotes Swedish and Swedish-American contributions to history, art, architecture, music, science, and technology. The museum's collections and exhibits highlight the rich cultural heritage of Swedish immigrants and their impact on American society.

The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 10am to 4pm, and Saturdays from 12pm to 4pm. It's a welcoming space for all nationalities, including the LGBTQ+ community, to explore Swedish culture. Check their website for current exhibits and special events. If you're interested in broader art history, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is nearby for a full day of cultural exploration.
