About
Founded in 1880, the Providence Art Club is one of the oldest continuously operating art clubs in the country. Its three public galleries feature work by Exhibiting Artist Members who are juried into the club by their peers. The club also hosts annual events like the Open Juried Show each spring and the Little Pictures Show & Sale from November 15 to December 23, where artworks are capped at 16x16 inches and $300. Galleries are free and open to the public.
The Art Club sits in a row of historic houses on Thomas Street in College Hill. Hours are limited to 12pm-4pm, Monday through Friday plus Sunday, so plan accordingly. If you are visiting other venues nearby, the RISD Museum of Art is a short walk away, though it is temporarily closed.
