Oz Bar
Dive Bars · Phoenix, AZ
About
You might expect a dive bar to close early, but Oz Bar's 6am-2am overnight hours make it one of Phoenix's last-call options. This Central Phoenix pub has been under new ownership since 2010 and boasts low drink prices, a smoking patio, and free pool and darts.
The crowd is mixed and easygoing, ranging from 30s to retirement age — regulars call it a "Cheers" kind of place. Poker runs Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at 8pm and 10pm. Go-go boys appear Fridays until 10pm and Saturdays until midnight. Note: Yelp currently lists this venue as possibly permanently closed, so confirm hours before heading over.

“Family Bar”
I appreciate the respectful bartenders here. They offer great happy hour deals and have fun karaoke.

“dont waist your time or money at this dump!”
This bar is terrible. It's tiny and dirty. The bartenders and staff are rude, and the drinks are bad. I strongly recommend people avoid it and save their money. I'm shocked this disgusting place is still open.

“Ripped Off”
I visited a few times and they gave out poker chips for a free drink. When I stopped by today, they said they no longer honor those chips. If you're going to do something like that, you should keep honoring them until they're all returned. It felt like a bait and switch. Well, they lost me as a customer and are on my bad list now. It's a terrible place to be—you don't cheat a witch and not get some bad luck in return.

“Friendly Neighborhood Bar”
The appealing aspect of Oz is the diversity of its customers and the friendly 'Cheers'-like atmosphere. It's simple to start a conversation or join a patio table game. Ages range mostly from thirties to well past retirement.

“Very friendly Bar”
This bar has been making some positive changes. If you haven't been in a while, you should stop by. It's under new management and is getting a facelift little by little. The women's restrooms are very clean, as are the men's. This bar welcomes everyone. It also has a nice smoking area out back, so if you come in and it looks empty, head toward the back. Yes, there are televisions and music in the back patio area. It's a great place to watch a game, play pool or darts, or just hang out.
