Budget-friendly and proudly Latinx, this decades-old Pomona staple is for anyone who loves a dive with a dance floor. Alibi East & Back Alley Bar packs in a mixed LGBTQ+ crowd of 20- and 30-somethings who come for go-go dancers, drag shows, and cheap drinks in a no-attitude setting. A recent remodel gave it two dance floors and a modernized vibe, but the friendly spirit (and the fine Latin boys) remain as strong as ever.

Cover is $5, domestic beer runs $2.50, and the Back Alley Bar side offers outdoor seating plus a second bar. Friday is your night for after hours fun, with the party going until 3am. If you're a white visitor feeling self-conscious around a mostly Latinx crowd, the regulars say get over it–this is a welcoming spot where everyone's welcome to have a good time.

“Party On The County Line!!!”

This bar has been operating for decades and remains popular, so I'm surprised I'm the one reviewing it now. In the 90s, Alibi East was my go-to Friday spot: $2 cover, $2 domestic beer, and countless attractive Latino men, open until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays. Things have changed—the bar has been remodeled and modernized, now has two dance floors, the cover is $5, domestic beer is $2.50, and late hours are only Friday until 3am. But the Latino men are still plentiful and attractive. If you're white and feel uncomfortable around a large group of Latinos drinking and looking at you, it's probably not a good idea to go. I mention this because I know white people who say that's why they avoid the Latin bar near where I live now in Oakland. I think that's silly, but whatever floats your boat. Anyway, it's a fun bar—go check it out. Pomona is in East Los Angeles County near the 10 and 60 freeways, about 45 minutes from Hollywood, 30 from Anaheim, 20 from Pasadena, and 30 from San Bernardino and Riverside.
