About

SF Eagle is a historic leather bar in SOMA and the first of its kind in the country to earn landmark status. It's best for leather enthusiasts and the bear/pup community, with three bars spread across the space. The tagline says it: 'Meet daddies, otters and pups.' It's LGBTQ-owned and has a dive bar feel, with a pool table and outdoor seating.

Open from late afternoon to 2am on weekends, with earlier closings on weeknights. Karaoke nights draw a crowd. Folsom Street Fair weekends have tiered cover charges for those in gear versus street clothes. If you're exploring SOMA, you can also check out Thirsty Bear Brewing Co nearby.

SF Eagle is in SOMA, near Harrison Street, a historically gay neighborhood with many bars and clubs.

“Sunday funday”

You should include SF Eagle on your Sunday afternoon or evening plans. Wear leather that day. The place is active and cruising-oriented, with a diverse leather crowd.

“Great Place”

The atmosphere was excellent. The bars were never too busy, and there are three of them. The downside was ordering the same drink three times, with the price increasing by a dollar each time over the course of an hour. What was that about?

“nice place”

I haven't been to this place yet, but I've heard it's been around for many years. A deaf leather boy I met said he went there. I haven't visited or learned much, but I've heard it's fun.

“Folsom - $20 entry fee??? Even in gear on Friday?”

This place is generally fantastic, with a great mix of leathermen and masculine types. My complaint is about Folsom Friday charging $20 regardless of gear, Saturday charging $15 in gear or $20 in street clothes, and Sunday charging $5 in gear. I didn't get the logic, since it used to be $10 for everyone, occasionally $5 in gear. Consistency would be appreciated.
