About
Dorchester's dbar is a chic, moody martini lounge that draws a mixed gay/straight crowd ranging from 20-somethings to 40-somethings. The space operates more like a restaurant before 10 pm, serving European-French-Italian cuisine and seafood, then transitions into a dance spot on weekends with late hours until 2 am.
Regulars note the friendly, good-looking staff and easy parking, but the vibe can be quiet midweek. Sundays close early at 8 pm, so plan accordingly. It's a solid pick if you're looking for a swanky spot outside downtown Boston, especially with a group of friends.
dbar is located in Dorchester, a neighborhood just outside of downtown Boston. While some reviews note it feels a bit removed from the city's main gay scene, parking is easy and the area is quieter than downtown.

Before 10 pm this feels more like a restaurant than a bar. The food is really good, and the staff is friendly and attractive. It's a great spot to meet up with friends, especially if you don't want to go all the way into downtown. Highlights include cute bartenders, easy parking, and a swanky atmosphere.

“not out of town”
First off, this place is in the city, not out of town! It's in Dorchester, one of Boston's grittier areas. It's nice for dinner, but the locals haven't really embraced it as a hangout yet. Come on, Bostonians, start supporting gay places or you'll always be saying "what happened to that" and "I wish that still existed" remember that!

I've been here a few times. It's not really a place to go alone. There are hot bartenders, it's clean and attractive, and I'm glad Dorchester has a gay spot, but honestly, nothing exciting ever happens here.

“Increduble place, excellent food and staff.”
I'm not sure what those other people are complaining about. The food was excellent, the service was great, and the staff was friendly. This is a must-visit when you're in Boston.
