Mixers

Karaoke · Baltimore, MD

About

Open from Wednesday through Sunday, this queer "Cheers" bar starts its nights at 6pm on weekdays and gets going until 2am on weekends. The deck and big sound system create a space where gays and non-gays mingle easily, with karaoke nights bringing regulars out to sing.

Drinks are notably cheaper here than at places like Central Station, and recent renovations spruced up the front entrance and interior. Staff are friendly and treat you like part of the party from your first visit.

“A new personal favorite.”

Great atmosphere, well-made drinks, and a friendly staff from the bartenders to the person playing music. It was my first visit, and they treated me like a regular. The music was excellent, and there were some attractive locals around, which is always a nice bonus. I've found a new weekend spot and plan to return.

What's the best night to come to Mixers and party?

“WOW !!!”

It's been a while since my last visit to Mixers. I'm really impressed with the interior renovations and the changes to the front entrance. The service was fast, and it was refreshing to have a bartender make you feel part of the party. The prices are great too; honestly, why go to Central Station and pay $5 for one beer when you get double or more at Mixers? Mixers has won me over!

“NO CLASS !!!! What a Dive!!!!!!!!!!!!”

I've traveled worldwide and can honestly say this bar has absolutely no class. If you want a decent gay bar, go further downtown. I've never felt so low in a bar that charges top dollar, and I was accused of not paying my bill. The gay co-owner told me I left a tab open during their holiday party. But when I open a tab, I hand over my debit card and always make sure I get my paid receipt before leaving. I manage hotels for a living, and if any employee or manager treated a customer the way Mixers treated me, they'd be fired. The owner asked me to find my receipt; I found it in his pile. No apology whatsoever. The owners need to learn how to run a bar and understand they're in the service industry. This bar will fail. I won't spend another cent here, and neither will any of my friends, who will spread the word. Mixers is completely messed up.

“Great”

It's a neighborhood bar without any pretension. Drinks are affordable, bartenders are kind, and the crowd is welcoming. There's a patio for smoking and hanging out, and you'll usually find a decent number of people from Wednesday to Sunday. One bartender is the best, even if he occasionally forgets to smile. This is the place to go north of the city.
