The Saloon

Dancing · Video Bar · Minneapolis, MN

About

The dance floor stays packed, the video bar glows, and go-go boys work the crowd. The Saloon brings themed parties, drag shows, and cruising energy to downtown Minneapolis until 3am on weekends.

It draws a younger, mostly male crowd with plenty of 18-and-up patrons. Stick to beer for better pours; music leans into pop and remixes. The back bar attracts a more forward crowd, while the patio offers a breather.

The Saloon anchors the downtown Minneapolis LGBTQ scene, blocks from other bars like First Avenue and Brit's Pub.

“OLD School”

A hidden gem in a very diverse community. The music is cutting edge, the staff is really friendly, and they host great events. This venue truly embodies community spirit. It's a fantastic place to meet people.

“Defrosted boys”

Visited Minneapolis on a work trip and a friend suggested this spot. My coworkers and I showed up during happy hour and ended up hanging out. We had a blast with lots of attractive guys and great music. If you're in Minneapolis, definitely check it out.

“A Palace for Pretty & Pretentious People (and weak drinks)”

I've been a lifelong resident of this city, and I've only been here a handful of times. Every visit has been awful. Most bartenders are rude and will ignore you if you're not their friend, whether it's busy or not. Twice, I've been called a racial slur by bartenders (the incidents were six years apart and involved different staff each time). The drinks are either very weak or poorly poured (stick with beer). Also, watch your drink; the only time I was drugged was here. The crowd tends to be young, white men, like 'Clones.' Aside from Tuesday Latino nights, this bar lacks diversity. The only positives are no cover charge (unless there's a special event or you're under 21), decent food, and friendly security. If you enjoy standing around posing with attractive people while sipping weak drinks, this is your place. Otherwise, pick any other Minneapolis bar.
