Most gay bars in Charlotte lean one way or another, but Chasers mixes go-go dancers, drag shows, and a cocktail lounge under one roof. With a 30-year history in the city, it recently got a refresh from new ownership that kept the all-male dancers as the main draw. The crowd is a mix of gay men, straight groups, and regulars who remember the earlier era.
Monday Madness brings a pool tournament hosted by drag personality Roxy C. Moorecox. Early arrivals catch a laidback vibe, while later hours lean flirty. Drinks run cheap compared to bigger club scenes. The NoDa location puts it near Petra's and other nightlife spots.

“Very sad place but OK for what its worth”
It's disappointing compared to real swing bars like the one in Atlanta; there really is no comparison. However, you get what you pay for here, with drinks costing $3 to $5 instead of $10 to $15, which makes more sense at more reputable places with better dancers. The space looks nice, but the dancers are pretty sad, so go at your own risk.

The place is okay, nothing great, but I've been in worse. They need to fix it up, bring in some drag queens, and cater to some of the niches in the gay community. Add better lighting, let the dancers pick their own stage songs, and get a better area for lap dances.

“Nice eye-candy dancers”
Visited on a Saturday night, but unfortunately they were hosting a drag queen contest. Several guys danced before the show, mostly twinks, a couple of muscular guys, and an All-American type with a great smile and rocking body. I plan to visit again next time I'm in Charlotte.

“negative”
I arrived early, around 11. A good-looking guy sat down while I waited for a drink. The bartender was nice. The guy who sat down didn't work there but said he had danced there years ago. Then he asked me to buy him a drink. Damn. Shortly after, a young twink dancer sat down and did the same: will you buy me a drink? I left soon after since I was the only target.

“Club”
It's a fun, laid-back environment for the gay community, mainly geared toward gay men. Come out for Monday Madness at Chasers tonight. See your favorite boys and try your hand at our pool tournament. You might get lucky and play a game with the fabulous Roxy C. Moorecox. I had a blast last week playing against Ms. Roxy.
