The owner and bartenders are kind, and the bar is clean. But if you visit on two different weekends, you'll see many of the same regulars. It feels very cliquish. As a recent transplant, I'm not impressed with the patrons, who behave like small-town people. It's pretty disappointing.

“leather nights”
On the second Saturday of each month, the Red Lions Leather Club hosts a fetish night with many attractive men and a welcoming, fun atmosphere where ages range from 25 to 65. Other nights, it's a very relaxed, homey bar with nice people and good music.

“Flex is the Best -”
This is the relaxed gay bar in town where you can truly be yourself without fear of being judged by the attractive crowd. It's mostly a bear bar. Thursday nights feature the best trailer park drag show in the area, complete with raffle prizes and a diverse mix of people. Saturday nights have bear-themed parties, while Sunday and Monday are home to the city's top karaoke, which has actually won awards.

“Hard to meet people by yourself”
I visited a few weeks ago on a Sunday night. It was fairly quiet with no cover charge. There were some cute guys, but everyone was in small groups, and I was alone. I got a few looks but nothing significant. Some guys drop their pants to show their underwear, which was just okay. The bar itself is nice, with attractive bartenders and good drink deals. I'm planning to go to Carolina Bear Group Night on Saturday the 5th but would like to meet someone to go with. It's definitely worth visiting on busier nights like Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.
