Effex Nightclub

My last visit was really disappointing. We were in line for drinks when a very rude bartender with a terrible attitude snapped at us and asked what we wanted. I looked at my friend, totally confused about why he was so rude. We got our drinks, and I didn't tip him because of how he treated us. An hour later, we got back in line, and the same bartender yelled that he wouldn't serve us because we hadn't tipped. First, you can't refuse service for not tipping. Second, tips are earned through good service, which he needs to learn. I imagine he costs Effex a lot of money by refusing drinks to non-tippers, and with his attitude, that's probably a lot of people. If you go to Effex, watch out for a bartender who feels entitled to tips but shows no basic decency. - don't bring Mom - ewww - long lines

“Birdcage or Inmates who Pay to Be Here”

Some bouncers seem tense and patrol aggressively between rooms, and not all appear healthy, which hurts the atmosphere. One took my first drink of the night from my table while I was quietly talking to my girlfriend. Also, the upstairs indoor bar charges more for the same drinks available elsewhere in the club.

“Great club for the area”

The upstairs lounge is beautifully decorated, and the outdoor patio is large and great for a summer evening. The downstairs dance floor feels very rave-like with high ceilings and an industrial vibe. Unfortunately, the front entrance still looks like an 80s office building and desperately needs an update. The bartenders are attractive and friendly, and the drinks are well-made but a bit pricey for this city. The female go-go dancers are beautiful, but the male go-go boys need improvement.

“Joke isn't funny”

It feels like a hidden-camera prank show threw together the cheapest, sloppiest, ugliest dance club imaginable, charged high cover fees, and filmed people's reactions to being tricked. The crowd is about 50% straight girls, 40% skinny twinks, and 10% drug dealers.

“PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM A DUMP LIKE THIS.”

Listen up, party people. I've been to this place many times and always get bad vibes. The door greeters look like freaks, and they charge a cover of $10 or $15. This city isn't a big city, so how can they charge so much for such an unappealing dive? The service really sucks. Drinks are way overpriced in an 8 oz cup. What kind of service is that? The drinks aren't even that good, and when you get a bottle of beer, it's not even cold. I just moved here, and people said this was the place to be, but I don't see anything special about it. It's too crowded and smells awful, like a sewer plant—a shithole without a toilet. Every time I try to get a drink, the bartenders look cracked out or drunk. Several times I got a drink that wasn't even what I ordered. I can't believe the owners don't care. I think it's very dangerous when it gets crowded; don't count on security to help you—they'll beat you up because you're gay, they don't care. It's hard to believe they can run a place like this. I won't go there anymore. I've been to better places. Thank God for choices. I will never go back. I hope this sleazy, cheesy bar closes soon.
