Tramps
Cruising · Pub/Tavern · Oklahoma City, OK
About
Walk into Tramps and you're in a no-frills dive with dim lighting and a pool table in the back. It's the oldest operating LGBTQ+ bar on Route 66 and the oldest gay bar in Oklahoma, open since 1972. The crowd leans 30s to 40s, with a mix of regulars and newcomers. Drag shows and live entertainment keep things lively most weekends.
The drinks are strong and the bartenders are friendly. Friday through Sunday are the best nights to go, per Yelp regulars. The smoke can be thick and the vibe is unpretentious. It's also a cruising spot, so keep that in mind. If you're up for another stop nearby, The Boom is a quick walk away.
Tramps is located in Oklahoma City's NW 39th Entertainment District, a historic gayborhood with several LGBTQ+ venues along a corridor sometimes called the 'gay mile'.

“lives up to its name.”
This bar exactly fits its name TRAMPS. The smoke is so dense you could slice it. Strong drinks and friendly bartenders. The crowd is interesting, and you can find pretty much anything in the bathrooms.

More than a year ago. Strong drinks; the music could improve with a live DJ instead of the jukebox.

“OKC Dive bar for strong drinks”
Best spot to begin for drinks; just take your drinks to the nice outdoor patio to escape the smoke inside.

“Sunday afternoon rude young queens playing pool who think they are tops LOL”
I travel globally for work with a multinational company and have experienced gay nightlife from Buenos Aires to Hong Kong to Prague. I've been visiting Tramps occasionally on trips to Oklahoma for about 10 years. It is a dive but never claimed to be more. People have always been friendly except this last time when I saw a group of local young queens playing pool. It is ironic where you find attitude; they had little reason for it, and I didn't engage or interact directly. Still, they were obnoxious. The type of patron matters as much as the location. I've encountered less attitude from truly beautiful men in Paris gay nightlife than from this group.

“fun place”
It's grimy and dim, but I enjoy that. The people are welcoming, and it's a solid place to begin an evening. Order mixed drinks instead of beer, as local beer is weak.
