The regulars call it "Naps" and the atmosphere lives up to the nickname. Expect a mixed crowd of locals and visitors ranging from mid-20s to seasoned citizens, with pool tables, darts, and a jukebox spanning pop to disco. “Friendly staff, comfortable bar”
I was in Green Bay for a performance at the Meyer Theatre and went to the Napalese Lounge for a drink afterward. The bar wasn't very busy, but the bartender was really kind and spent time explaining the various events he and the venue were involved in. I regret that I can't recall his name, but I think he'd worked there for about six or seven years. He was part of the leather community and recommended I look up the leather schedule online, though that was just something I was curious about since they apparently offer activities for everyone in the LGBTQ community, including music, drag shows, dancing, sports, and food. Later, I met the owner, who was also quite friendly. I'll definitely return whenever I'm in Green Bay and plan to check their website for upcoming events when I'm in the Midwest.

“Green Bay's gay "Cheers"”
If you want the gay version of "Cheers" in the Green Bay area, Naps (as regulars call it) is the spot. It's northeast Wisconsin's longest-running gay bar. The decor is classic Wisconsin tavern style with a clear gay twist. There's pool, darts, and video games. The internet-connected jukebox plays everything from current pop and country hits to jazz greats and classic diva disco. The crowd is diverse and genuinely LGBTQ, much more so than the area's dance bars. Patron ages range from mid-20s to seniors. Straight allies feel welcome too. Daily drink specials attract a good after-work happy hour crowd Monday through Friday. The bar has a grill and pub-style menu including pizzas. Food specials like buck burgers on Cheap Meat Mondays and Wednesdays, authentic carne asada tacos on Taco Tuesday, cook-your-own steak on Thursdays, and a traditional Wisconsin fish fry on Fridays all have fans. Weekend nights feature DJs, a monthly drag show, and special events including benefits. There's a privacy-fenced outdoor patio open year-round (now needed for smokers since Wisconsin banned smoking in public spaces), heated in winter, which is unique among local gay bars with outdoor spaces. Large screen TVs show Packers games during the season, music videos on weekends, and gay-friendly broadcast and cable TV. Free WiFi is available. Napalese is the most community-connected local gay bar, with the Argonauts leathermen, the Bear Club of Northeast Wisconsin, and area charitable foundation Rainbow Over Wisconsin regularly holding meetings in the community room and sponsoring events. The local ARCW office offers regular rapid HIV testing nights at the bar. So if you want a truly "family friendly" atmosphere, check out Napalese Lounge. Once you visit, it really is the place where everyone knows your name.
