About

Best nights: Tue, Thu, Sat

A mixed crowd fills this aging bathhouse, which opened in 2000. The Mega-Plex in Providence offers a gym, dry sauna, group steam room, and a maze/playroom plus private rooms (some with their own shower). Reviews, however, note significant maintenance problems: leaky ceilings, broken fixtures, and carpet removed to cold concrete floors.

The staff are described as friendly and the fees reasonable, with daily themes and clean linens. Off-street parking is plentiful. You'll find a Keurig for coffee, and best nights according to Yelp are Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. But be prepared: multiple reviewers mention no hot water and out-of-order bathrooms.

“Going down hill FAST!”

I hadn't been in a year and was shocked that what used to be a fairly nice place now looks like the aftermath of a foreclosure. The carpets are gone, leaving cold, clammy concrete floors. Towel racks are falling off the wall. The rooms are okay, but the sheets are so old that black ones have faded to gray, and pillows are lumpy antiques. Every bathroom has something broken. Doors are falling off and can't be fixed. The clientele seems fed up with the lack of maintenance; business is clearly down since they've closed off half the space to expand into the straight club next door. Why hasn't anyone else in Providence seen the opportunity to open a nice new club? Clearly the old straight owners of this rundown dump are oblivious to what gay men expect. A few highlights: the video monitor only shows porn in black and white, soap dispensers are broken so guys have to stick their hands into the tank, several machines leak water from the ceiling leaving puddles everywhere, they removed the hot water tap and replaced it with a fake plastic plant, they stopped having bowls of mints, and closed-off rooms have doors covered in duct tape like a crime scene. The railing at the entrance rusted and fell off, replaced with more crime scene tape—and that's the first thing you see. Apparently car vandalism has been so bad they closed their lot and dropped the security guard. The entry area is cluttered with rakes, shovels, cleaning carts, bags of sand, etc.—it looks like the underside of a storage shed. I give up. I can't even list all the decayed trash; it's overwhelming. I guess I'll try the other club or make the trip to Montreal, where everyone says it's amazing. It sucks that Boston doesn't have a club.

“Good enough but deserves some improvement”

On the plus side, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and the fees are reasonable. There's plenty of off-street parking. The daily themes are fun. Towels and sheets are clean and smell laundered. There's plenty of space to roam and meet men. You can get a room with its own shower. I like the cockring-sized glory holes—I can just fit through but then I'm trapped until someone makes me cum. And there's always fresh coffee from a Keurig machine. On the downside, a lot could be improved. It was raining and the foyer ceiling leaked. There was no hot water in the showers. Two of four bathrooms were locked, one had no lights and toilets had overflowed with poop water. Cold concrete floors were clammy and slippery. Duct tape on out-of-service rooms made it look like a crime scene. There used to be a small weight room but it's gone. Someone had peed on the floor in a glory hole alcove. The space could be upgraded at low cost, and after all these years, it deserves a refresh. I'd go more often if the showers were hot and the floors were cleaner and drier.

“Nice place to be your true self”

This is a very clean and professionally run club. It's amazing that it's in an industrial area of Providence, but when you look at license plates, you see not just Rhode Island but also Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and occasionally New York, Maine, and Vermont. Very low-key place and very clean.
