“The place where Ft Lauderdale began”
If you're into swimming or ever were, you must check the schedule to get lane time here when visiting. This place is great for swimming, with lots of space and different water temperatures. You can work out alongside Olympic hopefuls and swim in lanes once used by major swimmers. Even the locker rooms and showers are enjoyable, and everything is spacious. However, check the schedule to plan your visit when it's open and not booked for college or youth events, since it's a popular spot. Definitely five stars. It used to be the Swimming Hall of Fame training center, and the museum is still next door. If you're an athlete or former athlete and ask nicely, a staff member may let you in for free to see the many memorabilia exhibits. Ride a bike or take the bus to save on parking, as it's a block from the beach and parking rates are in effect.
