“nice workout”

It was very welcoming for gay people. When I visited, I was happy with everything. On a Saturday night it wasn't busy at all. There were attractive men in full spandex to look at, too. It's too bad everyone doesn't dress that well, since it's mostly straight-looking guys in baggy shorts and t-shirts and a mix of women on treadmills. Thankfully, there were no women trying to use the heavy free weight equipment with no weights. What a waste of equipment when you could just use the machines for such light lifting. People were friendly.

“Lockers and showers need cleaning”

Don't walk around barefoot here. The equipment is well kept, and there are a variety of attractive people to keep you inspired.

This gym has become quite worn down in recent years. I understand they're cutting costs like everyone else, but it's a problem when it affects cleanliness, which it definitely has. There used to be a staff member who cleaned for several hours a day, but now nobody ever cleans there. The locker room is truly awful. It stinks and reeks of filth. I never see anyone wiping anything down, and there's clearly an ongoing issue with staph infections among members. I've talked to many people there who have gotten staph, and I also worked at a doctor's office where we saw about 180 cases a year with the only common factor being a membership at this gym. I reported it locally and to corporate, but they brushed me off. They didn't want to hear it and said they weren't required to track staph cases reported by members. I would never join this gym knowing what I know, but it's very convenient and cheap. I do believe I'm immune to staph because almost everyone I know who works out there has had it at least once. I'd recommend wearing clothes that cover you well and not working out with open cuts. Also, there are only two water fountains with cold water now, and one near the women's locker room has had a problem where the lever gets stuck inside the fountain, letting your hand go in with it. I've stopped using it because I worry about getting shocked or electrocuted from the water and electricity. They've really let this location go. It's interesting that they apparently had money to install several large televisions blasting ads while the gym goes downhill. Gross.

“a Not so Nice place to get rob”

A friend from school talked me into trying this place again. While I was working out, five lockers were broken into. Honestly, I don't trust a gym that uses poster board for signs. I've been told by many people that this gym has ruined the gayborhood. Most of the attractive guys who used to come to Bear Buck (aka Star Buck) don't come here anymore.

“Hottest Gyms in ATL”

The LA Fitness chain has the most popular and attractive gyms in Atlanta. The Atlantic Station location is central in midtown and draws a diverse crowd of attractive people, celebrities, and more. It's a very nice gym with a pool, sauna, and basketball court. Around 90% of the clientele is gay or gay-friendly. It's an easy place to meet people and find out what's happening in the city.
