About

Peak Fitness in Indianapolis is open from 5am to 9pm on weekdays, with shorter hours on weekends. It's a well-equipped gym with 20,000 square feet of space, offering a wide range of classes like yoga, spinning, and boxing. The boxing ring comes from Rock Steady Boxing, a notable addition. Unlike some gyms, this one has a diverse crowd: heftier folks, seniors, and plain folks, not just the beautiful people.

You can get a free 3-day pass from their website to check it out. They offer childcare for a nominal fee, though not at all hours. The location is in Hawthorne Plaza Shopping Center by Binford Blvd. It's been around for years, so it's not fly-by-night.

“Just looking?”

I didn't sign up here, but I did check it out on a tour. It's a full-service gym with all the usual equipment like cardio machines, free weights, and various weight machines from brands such as Hammerstrength, Strive, Paramount, Body Masters, Magnum, and Nautilus. They also offer many classes included in your membership, including Aerobic, Spinning, Strength Training, Boot Camp, Pilates, Zumba, and Yoga. Some classes, like boxing, cost extra but are reasonably priced for members. They recently added a boxing program with a real boxing ring from Rock Steady Boxing. It's not the cheapest gym, but considering the wide range of machines, free classes, and discounted ones, I think it's decent value, especially the classes. If their class schedule fits yours and you go regularly, the cost per visit is much lower than those boutique class-only studios. The clientele is diverse, not just attractive people in designer gear or gym bros, but also older folks and regular people. You can get a free three-day pass from their website to try it out. Childcare is available for a small extra fee, but not all hours, so check the schedule. Being a local, I've seen this place has been around for years and is still popular, so it's not going anywhere. They don't push for a year-long upfront payment like some gyms. It's located in the Hawthorne Plaza Shopping Center at the northwest corner of E 62nd and Binford. Enter near the Shell station on 62nd; you can't see the gym from 62nd but can from Binford.
