“Mixed feelings”

This W property seems to be the largest one I've encountered, and its location is convenient, just a few blocks from the gay beach, with many rooms offering nice ocean views. If the beach isn't your thing, the hotel has a lovely pool with great water views—possibly one of the best in town, though I can't say for sure. For a relatively new hotel, I was surprised by how much hallway noise carried and the lack of expected amenities; for instance, the room's radio and alarm clock lacked an iPod docking station, and everyone in our group of nine agreed the beds weren't very comfortable. Note that room internet isn't free, but it is complimentary in the lobby and bar.

“internet NOT free, noxious odors”

I stayed for three nights during a conference and was very disappointed that internet in my $199 room cost an extra $14. Nearby motels costing $69 offered free internet. A bottle of water was $8. There was 'free' internet in their Living Room, but it was limited to two hours. The front desk was on the fourth floor instead of the ground floor, which was inconvenient, and to reach the guest rooms I had to walk past two shops with strong cheap scents. I hated that daily smell assault. The hotel also used a horrible cleaning agent that made me want to hold my breath. One night around 9pm, a staff member asked to see my room card while I was walking to my room, which really put me off. I doubt I'll ever stay at another W.
