Casa Marina Resort & Beach Club

Hotel · Key West, FL

About

The oceanfront setting is stunning, with 1,100 feet of private beach at your doorstep. Casa Marina Resort & Beach Club is a historic property under the Waldorf-Astoria brand. It's IGLTA approved but skews primarily toward straight families with children. Reviews note it's not the quiet getaway you might expect. The hotel is well-appointed, but the vibe can feel more like a family-friendly resort than an LGBTQ+ sanctuary.

If you're traveling with your partner, you may get looks from other guests. Staff are friendly, but the ambiance might not match what you're seeking. Nearby, Cheeca Lodge & Spa offers a more upscale alternative. Consider a dedicated gay resort for a more relaxed experience.

“Won't return here”

Not worth the money at all, and it doesn't feel welcoming to gay guests. When my partner and I checked in, we were given a room facing the parking lot, and there are constant extra fees.

“straight family friendly”

This historic hotel is lovely and has great beach access, but that's about it. Despite being IGLTA-approved, the guests are mostly straight families with loud young kids and teenagers, not what you'd expect at a gay-friendly spot. If you want a relaxing couples getaway in the Keys, this isn't it. The hotel is nice, but the crowd makes it feel like a Holiday Inn. Staff are friendly, but other guests give strange looks and comments. I'd suggest staying at a gay resort or paying more for a higher-end place; don't let the Waldorf name trick you.
