About

This guest house suits solo travelers or couples seeking a quiet, residential base with personal hospitality. Housed in a 19th-century Creole slave quarters building behind the owner's residence, the unit offers a living room, kitchenette, and a bedroom with balcony overlooking a plant-filled courtyard. The owner has lived in Faubourg Marigny for 30 years and provides tailored advice on local spots.

Your stay includes free WiFi and a continental breakfast served in the courtyard. The rates are reasonable for the area, and the Marigny puts you a short walk from French Quarter jazz clubs and bars. The house has been licensed since 2002.

“New Orleans Hospitality & Charm”

I stayed at this guest house during a literary conference in New Orleans in 2006 and had a wonderful experience. The owners were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They reside in the main house, but the guest house is in the former slave quarters behind it. The courtyard between them is lush and very relaxing—a perfect spot for breakfast, reading, or an afternoon nap. The accommodations are very comfortable: downstairs has a living room with cable TV and a pull-out sofa, plus a fully equipped kitchenette, while upstairs features a large bedroom with a balcony overlooking the courtyard and a bright full bathroom. The website photos don't capture how nice it really is. It's located in the Faubourg Marigny, a gay-friendly neighborhood adjacent to the French Quarter, which I prefer because it has great restaurants, bars, and jazz clubs, yet the Quarter is only a 15-minute walk away. The rate was also very reasonable. The best compliment I can give is that I wanted to return this year, but it was already booked—so the secret is out!
