Unlike most chain hotels, the Biltmore Greensboro Hotel is a 1903 relic that began life as a corporate office for the Cone Export and Commission Company. It was one of the first buildings in Greensboro wired for electricity and plumbing, and its original 1920s unmanned elevator still operates today. The 26-room hotel was redesigned in the late '60s by interior designer Otto Zenke, who gave the lobby an English hunting club feel with walnut paneling and hunting scenes. Rooms have a homey touch with four-poster beds.
