Holiday Inn Raleigh Downtown
Hotel · Raleigh, NC
About
A mix of budget travelers and no-fuss regulars fills this 1960s round tower, nicknamed the 'Hair Curler' for its distinctive donut shape. The pie wedge-shaped rooms are a quirky remnant of mid-century design. It's the closest hotel to the convention center and a short walk from Duke Energy Center. You'll also find it near all the gay bars in the area.
The Skye Tower Restaurant and Lounge on the top floor offers city views and local spirits. But be warned: reviews mention loud drunks at night, so bring earplugs. If you want quiet, the nearby Raleigh Marriott City Center is a pricier alternative. Free WiFi is included.

“All around trashy”
If you're okay with loud drunks shouting all night, the price is low. But do yourself and your partner a favor and pay more for the Marriott.

“Only if you want to be close to the bars!”
An old, renovated 1960s Holiday Inn. Locals call it the Hair Curler because of its round 60s design with pie wedge-shaped rooms. It's just okay. Skip it and pay more for the other major hotels in the city center.
