About

You'll notice the vintage film posters right away: nearly 300 of them line the hallways and guest rooms at Chelsea Pines Inn, a five-story walk-up row house built in the 1850s. Each room is dedicated to a famous gay icon from Hollywood's Golden Age, complete with 300 thread-count linens and Gilchrist & Soames bath amenities. The inn is mixed LGBTQ+ and straight friendly, with a garden patio out back and free wifi. Owner Jay has run it for nearly 25 years, baking daily tea-breads for the generous breakfast.

The location puts you between Chelsea and the West Village, steps from the 8th Avenue subway and a short walk to the High Line. Guests appreciate the quiet rooms and the staff's helpfulness. Check-in times vary but the inn operates 24/7 according to Yelp. If you need a business center, there are computers and a printer available. The inn produces its own daily "newspaper" with local event listings.

Chelsea Pines Inn is in Chelsea, near 8th and 9th Avenues. The neighborhood is a hub for LGBTQ+ life and close to the High Line park and Chelsea Market.

“Great hotel on 14th Street”

I found Chelsea Pines Inn years ago, and ever since, it's been my home away from home in New York. The rooms are beautifully decorated with old movie posters, the breakfast is incredibly generous with daily loaves of amazing tea bread made by the owner, and there's a lovely garden patio out back. The rooms are quiet and comfortable in any season, the staff is very helpful and friendly, and there's a business room with computers and a printer so I don't need to bring my laptop for short trips. The location is fantastic, right above the West Village and at the edge of Chelsea, with the 8th Avenue subway just up the block. They even put out their own daily newspaper with neighborhood events and suggestions for sightseeing and shopping, including the spectacular High Line Park only a block and a half away. I used to live in New York and love going back; now Chelsea Pines Inn is one of the things I look forward to most. The whole place is so comfortable and the staff so welcoming that it truly feels like home.

“Cute, hip little B&B”

I loved this place. It's cute and nicely decorated with an Old Hollywood theme. We stayed in the Paul Newman room, which was fabulous and had a hot, shirtless photo of Paul from his 20s in the bathroom. The inn was quiet and close to everything in Chelsea, a really cute area. I also loved the bed, and the shower was unique and nice. I would definitely stay here again. The staff were friendly too.

Can you find Judy Garland (lol)? The front desk guy is so sweet and cute (anyone know his email? lol). I will definitely stay here again. :-)
