“Location, location, locatoin (wait, is Chelsea still a viable locatoin?)”

I stayed here many times before moving to New York City. The hotel is just average—nothing terrible but nothing special, with few amenities. Its only draw is the location at 23rd and Seventh. However, the Chelsea neighborhood is changing; in the late 80s, gay people revitalized a run-down area, but now rents have skyrocketed and many iconic gay venues have closed. Looking at a map, Hell's Kitchen has many more gay spots, and Chelsea is no longer a destination. Rufskin is still there and great, but there's no dance club. Gym Bar, Barracuda, and G remain but may not appeal to everyone. The Eagle leather bar may close due to new high-rises and the High Line. Chelsea now has nail salons, banks, and Duane Reades instead of the vibrant, edgy gay scene it once had.

“Nothing Special”

This is a mediocre hotel. The rooms are small and the staff is somewhat rude, even by New York standards.

“Terrible staff/service”

I'm a budget-conscious leisure traveler. My family and I visited New York for the first time and had a terrible experience at this hotel. We are very upset. I had an issue and called to speak with the manager. She was unpleasant, cut me off several times, and eventually hung up on me. It took a long time to reach her, and I was on the phone less than five minutes—I'm not a nagging customer. For over $250 per night, that's unacceptable. I tried calling back four more times; the front desk transferred me, but I got voicemail each time. The fifth time, the front desk said she was in a meeting, but I doubt it given the timing. I asked for her full name, but no one would give it. The front desk staff then gave me attitude. I want to find the owner to report this unprofessional behavior. I hope things improve, but right now this experience has really upset my family and me.

“A GREAT DEAL!”

A reasonably priced, well-maintained hotel with a great location. Definitely the place to stay in New York City if you're on a budget.

“Great Hotel”

Clean, quiet, and reasonably priced for New York City. Located right at the corner of 7th Avenue and 23rd Street. Easy subway access. Very clean. Nice continental breakfast.
