Hyatt Regency Cleveland At The Arcade
Hotel · Cleveland, OH
About
What makes the Hyatt Regency Cleveland At The Arcade different from other downtown hotels is that it's built inside a historic Victorian-era shopping arcade. This hotel offers airy rooms with high vaulted ceilings, some overlooking the Arcade itself. It includes a full spa, a restaurant, and a cocktail lounge. The Arcade is a popular food court destination for local office workers during the day, but beyond the Victorian decor and a few small stores, there's not much shopping.
Rooms are contemporary but basic: no in-room coffee machines or fridges. You'll need to grab coffee at the ground-floor coffee bar, available only in the morning. The hotel's downtown location near St. Clair/Superior is convenient for sports venues and historic buildings. It stays open 24 hours with overnight hours daily. Take a look at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel if you prefer a more traditional luxury stay.
Hyatt Regency Cleveland At The Arcade is located in the St. Clair/Superior neighborhood, placing it near downtown attractions and sports venues.

“Not your father's Hyatt”
I stayed at a Hyatt Regency in a Detroit suburb years ago and it was top-notch. The Hyatt at the Arcade was a major addition to Cleveland, but it doesn't resemble the sleek, modern Hyatts people expect. It occupies one end of the old Arcade, an interesting historic structure that isn't an upscale shopping center. Most visitors come for the food court, popular with nearby office workers, but aside from a few tiny shops, there's little to do except admire the Victorian-era architecture. It's not luxurious. If you want a traditional first-class hotel, choose the Renaissance.

“This doesn't live up to the Hyatt”
The room is very basic. There is no coffee maker or mini-fridge. A safe is installed but poorly attached to the TV cabinet. For coffee, I have to go down to the ground floor to a coffee bar that is only open in the morning. The Arcade mall itself is rundown. Most store spaces are vacant. The remaining shops offer little to see or buy. In the food court, only two vendors are left; most spaces are empty too. This is basically a huge empty mall being converted into a hotel. Many rooms were originally retail or office spaces. It's an awkward hotel in a convenient downtown location, only appealing if you like historic buildings and sports.

“Gorgeous Hotel- Careful Where Your Room Is”
I loved the high ceilings in my room and how stepping outside reminds you of a Milan galleria, with many shops on the lower levels. However, being near the elevators, a disturbing chiming sound started in the middle of the morning and kept me awake. If my room had been elsewhere, this would have been a 4- or 5-star stay. The bathrooms are spacious and the rooms are lovely.
