About
Sheraton Gunter Hotel San Antonio occupies a meticulously restored 100-year-old building on Houston Street, across from the Majestic Theatre. The hotel combines historic grandeur with modern conveniences like flat-screen TVs and large desks, making it a solid choice for queer travelers who want classic Texas charm without sacrificing comfort. It's family-friendly, with a swimming pool and a gym, and the lobby feels genuinely grand. The downstairs restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, and a late-night bar opens at 11 PM offering only top-shelf liquor at reasonable prices.
You'll find the hotel walkable to the Riverwalk and the popular gay bar Bonham Exchange. Valet parking runs $28, but a city parking deck nearby costs just $10. Staff are consistently described as prompt and professional, though room readiness can be slow at check-in. The upstairs club/bar might be worth exploring, but reviews are mixed on that front. For a mainstream hotel with a historic feel and easy access to San Antonio's LGBTQ scene, it's a practical base.
Situated on Houston Street in downtown San Antonio, the hotel is across from the Majestic Theatre and within walking distance of the Riverwalk and Bonham Exchange gay bar.

“1st Sheraton Stay”
I had a good time here even though the room was nothing special, considering I booked the Executive King Bed room. There's an upstairs club or bar but I didn't visit it so I can't say anything about it. The hotel has a restaurant downstairs that serves really tasty breakfast and dinner. Customer service is mostly punctual and professional. The room wasn't ready when we got there and it took an hour for housekeeping to finish. Parking is a bit of a pain but that's normal for downtown. The hotel only offers valet parking, otherwise you pay per trip to park in a nearby lot. The best part is a downstairs bar that opens at 11pm and only sells top-shelf liquor at very reasonable prices. The Riverwalk is really close for those who want to take a walk. It's also near the Bonham Exchange (a popular gay bar) and within walking distance if you don't mind.

“Nice Hotel”
This is an old hotel that's been well maintained. The lobbies are impressive, and the rooms have been updated to meet Sheraton standards. The staff is dedicated to ensuring you're happy and comfortable. I'll definitely stay here again. If you drive, you can easily park in the city parking deck for $10 rather than paying $28 for hotel valet. The restaurant is also nice.

“In the heart of San Antonio, by the Riverwalk”
The room was a decent size but the decor makes up for it. I was impressed with the staff and how quickly guest services responded to our requests. The building is a century old but Sheraton did a great job restoring and updating the hotel with modern features like flat-screen televisions and large desks for business travelers with laptops and other work needs.
