The Emily Morgan San Antonio - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel

Hotel · San Antonio, TX

About

You might expect a historic hotel to feel dated, but The Emily Morgan San Antonio balances its Gothic Revival architecture with modern Texas decor. This 1926 landmark sits directly across from the Alamo, making it the official hotel of the iconic site. Guests consistently note the spacious rooms with granite and tile finishes, plus the unique Japanese style sliding bathroom doors that set the rooms apart from typical chain hotels. The onsite Oro Restaurant and Bar has earned awards, and the hotel offers an outdoor heated pool, fitness center, and free WiFi.

The hotel is pet friendly and family friendly, with a 24 hour front desk for flexible check in. The pool was under renovation as of 2010, so confirm current status if that's a priority. Being in the Alamo neighborhood means you're steps from downtown nightlife and attractions, but the hotel itself provides a quieter retreat with its courtyard seating. For a longer stay, the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa offers a different resort experience. The Emily Morgan's boutique vibe and historic details make it a solid choice for travelers who want character without sacrificing modern comfort.

The hotel is in the Alamo neighborhood, directly across from the Alamo itself. You're within walking distance of downtown San Antonio attractions and nightlife.

“Great location and nicely renovated!”

I stayed at the Emily Morgan last weekend to avoid driving home after a night out and was really happy with it. The room had a good size with granite and tile finishes. I especially liked the oversized, sliding bathroom doors inspired by Japanese design, which gave the room a distinctive feel. I would have preferred a flat screen TV instead of the older boxy model, but it worked fine. Also, the pool is under renovation and should be finished by July 2010, according to staff.
