About

One Yelp reviewer called Cafe Stella 'a delicious, romantic dinner' spot, and that sums it up well. This French bistro in Silverlake offers a candlelit patio perfect for intimate conversations. The Coq au Vin and steak tartare come highly recommended, and the wine from Provence is a standout. While prices are on the higher side, the quality lives up to it. Gay diners are welcome here, even if the crowd leans more mixed than majority queer.

Service is efficient and the ambiance is comfortable, making it a solid choice for date night. If you're looking for dessert, the warm bread pudding is a favorite. The entrance is tricky to spot from Sunset Blvd—look for the Cheese Store nearby instead.

“A perfect Birthday dinner”

My boyfriend took me to Cafe Stella for a lovely, romantic dinner. I had wanted to try it for a while but was put off by the high prices. While the cost is steep, the quality is excellent. We split the steak tartare starter and each ordered the coq au vin. For dessert, we had a warm bread pudding with cold vanilla ice cream. It was a relaxing evening, and our server was charming. I would gladly go back anytime.

“Well-hidden treasure”

There's no visible address marker from Sunset Blvd., just something that looked like a cheese shop. Once found and inside though, the food was great, the service was prompt, the wine from Provence was lovely, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Not many gay patrons were present — only four out of about fifteen tables seemed to be gay.
