About

Dark wood paneling, white tablecloths, and the soft clink of wine glasses set the tone at Manhattan in the Desert. This is the dining room of the historic Ingleside Inn, an old Hollywood haunt tied to Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. Owner Mel Haber has been running it for over 35 years, serving American fare for lunch and dinner. Despite its straight-laced reputation, reviewers consistently call it gay friendly.

Lunch crowds are quieter, while dinner brings a mix of returning regulars and visitors. Sunday brunch runs 8am to 8pm. The wine bar is a solid choice for a pre-dinner drink. If you're looking for a livelier scene, head to LuLu California Bistro a few blocks away.

“Had a really great dining experience”

This was my first visit to the restaurant after hearing many positive things. I came for lunch and was really impressed. Nice atmosphere, attentive service, and tasty food. I returned two days later and liked it even more. It's very welcoming to LGBTQ guests and has a classic old Hollywood feel.
