Norma's is the best spot in town for having breakfast at one in the afternoon. It sits inside the Parker, a five-star boutique resort that feels effortlessly cool and laid-back, without any pretension. Everything about the Parker—from the salmon-pink valet uniforms, to the cinnebar-colored Hollywood Regency entrance, to the mid-century eclectic lounge decor—feels playful and charming. Norma's serves excellent French press coffee and a menu that is creative, fresh, and healthy. Yes, there is a thousand-dollar omelette on offer, but that is mostly for show; regular prices are reasonable, and you can fill up for under forty dollars, especially since you might be seated near celebrities like Brangelina and their crew. After a relaxing morning, you can stroll through Parker's beautiful gardens and peek into Mister Parkers, the upscale dining spot designed by Jonathan Adler, which is decorated with quirky sixties and seventies thrift store paintings.
