About

You might expect a stuffy French bistro, but Zin American Bistro serves American comfort food with a French touch. Everything from fried chicken to mussels to filet mignon, they feature dishes like the chef's grandmother's beef stew. It's a gay-friendly spot in the Arenas district, drawing a consistent LGBTQ crowd. Open daily for lunch and dinner, with Sunday brunch starting at 9am, the hours are dependable. You'll find outdoor seating and a relaxed atmosphere, though the price point is on the higher side. Regulars recommend visiting Sunday through Friday for specific dishes like lamb or seasonal items, and avoid peak Saturday brunch if you dislike crowds. The Yelp rating of 3.7 reflects mixed reviews, but loyal fans say the quality hasn't changed in seven years. If you're in the neighborhood, nearby LuLu California Bistro offers another lively option.

“ONE OF MY FAVORITE”

Most importantly, the food is excellent, service was pleasant, and the atmosphere is welcoming. I always have dinner here at least once when visiting. The quality has remained consistent over the past seven years.

“YES/NO?”

It's decent, nothing amazing, but I'd go back. This place is well-known locally, and many gay people go there. It's open 24/7 every night, I think.

“Forgive me, for I have Zinned”

I've dined here so many times that I can't say I don't enjoy being a regular, but this place isn't for everyone. That might be due to some factors you can manage. I avoid most restaurants on Palm Canyon for Saturday brunch during peak season and after 8:00 pm, and I come here Sunday through Friday for specific dishes I like, such as lamb, fish, and seasonal offerings. I skip entrees I've never liked anywhere or that make the bistro fare seem more eclectic. Not everyone can afford to come here, as the menu isn't cheap or low in calories, but then it wouldn't be such a delicious place.
