About

The crowd here is a mix of LGBTQ locals and Castro regulars, all squeezed into a tiny storefront that feels like a neighborhood secret. Anchor Oyster Bar is known for its daily raw bar and classic dishes like Cioppino, with a tagline that warns, "Don't show up late." The seafood is good, but reviews note that prices are steep and service can be slow.

The menu highlights fresh oysters — reviewers call the kushis "delish" and the malpecs "super yummy" — and the bread is described as "phenom!!!" You'll want to plan for a leisurely meal; table service moves at a glacial pace. It's open from 2pm to 8pm, Thursday through Monday (closed Tuesday and Wednesday).

The seafood is decent, but the cost is high, especially considering the poor service. Spending $75 for two people at lunch without alcohol seems excessive. The table service is extremely slow.

“kushis are a must!”

The oysters were very fresh and tasty. The kushis are delicious and the malpecs were also good. If you are avoiding carbs, be careful, the bread is amazing.
