Maxfield's House of Caffiene

Cafe · San Francisco, CA

About

Maxfield's House of Caffiene is open daily from early morning to mid-afternoon, making it a solid stop for coffee and breakfast in The Castro. This cafe sits on the shady Dolores sidewalk at 17th Street, offering street views and free Wi-Fi. The menu includes a surprisingly broad array of breakfast bagels, including a lox bagel, plus bakery goods. Prices are a bit cheaper than what you'll find at other nearby spots.

Regulars know to ask for Steven at the counter. The staff is friendly and the vibe is low-key. It's convenient yet just far enough from the tourist path. If you're exploring the neighborhood, you can also grab a sweet treat at Bi-Rite Creamery nearby.

“Friendly Neighborhood Cafe for Coffee & Bagles”

We stop by Maxfield's at least once every time we're in San Francisco. It's conveniently located at 17th and Dolores, but far enough from the main tourist areas that it doesn't get overrun.
