Precita Park Cafe

About
You walk in to sunlight streaming through large windows, a mix of lesbian regulars, Mission hipsters, and park dwellers chatting over coffee. This Bernal Heights cafe transforms into a restaurant at night, serving solid sandwiches like the short rib and pizzas that regulars swear by. The vibe is casual and unpretentious, with a view of Precita Park right across the street.
If you want to avoid the crowds at Dolores Park, this is your spot. The coffee comes in medium and dark roasts, and there's a decent wine selection too. It's open daily until 5pm, so come early for a relaxed lunch or afternoon coffee.
Precita Park Cafe sits in Bernal Heights, right across from Precita Park. It's a quieter alternative to the bustling Mission district spots.

“great view of park”
The food here is decent, but the main idea is to get a sandwich and coffee and enjoy Precita Park across the street, which is the trendy new hipster hangout, a small hidden gem alternative to the overcrowded Dolores Park Cafe.

“Disagree with article. Great food and hang out”
This place is unusual because it serves as a cafe during the day and a restaurant in the evening. The short rib sandwich, chicken chipotle, and turkey bacon with avocado are all tasty. The bread is excellent. You wouldn't find food like this without going deep into the Mission district. Their coffee options are medium and dark roasts, which suits me fine. Their side salads could use more vegetables. The pizzas at night are very good. We usually order pepperoni and margherita. Beers are inexpensive, and they have a nice zinfandel wine.

“finally!”
It's wonderful to have a new cafe in the area that's open late, serves locally sourced food, and has an atmosphere that encourages people to linger. The staff have made me feel welcome. Thanks!

“Disagree with the editorial review”
I actually think the food here is quite good. I had the short rib sandwich and it was very tasty. However, I also ordered a smoothie and that was just okay. Great atmosphere with lots of natural light.
