About

A first-time visitor might be surprised to pay extra for lettuce and tomato, but the burgers are consistently amazing. Super Duper Burger's original Castro location started the chain, using Niman Ranch Beef and house-made pickles. The Super burger with secret sauce is a regular's pick. Get there by 1pm or after to avoid the lunch rush, and snag a window seat with a friend while someone queues.

The atmosphere is classic burger joint, small but efficient. It's a solid choice for a quick, satisfying meal in the neighborhood. If you're craving ice cream after, Bi-Rite Creamery is a nearby stop worth considering.

“The World is a BURGER”

Another upscale burger chain that offers fancy toppings like blue cheese and bacon. If you're craving a burger and fries, this is the spot. It's small, so have a friend grab a seat while you order.

“Quality fast food”

This location in the Castro was the original, and now Super Duper has grown into a chain with many outlets. Their burgers are always excellent, and the fries are good too. I recommend the Super burger, which is a double patty with their special sauce—you won't regret it. It gets fairly crowded around 1 PM during late lunch, so arrive earlier or later to grab a seat by the window or outside.

Don't order the chicken; stick with the burgers here.

“Good food, poor condiment selection”

The first time I went, I was a bit annoyed that lettuce and tomato cost extra. Sliders has a much better condiment bar, but Super Duper's actual hamburgers are far superior—among burger joints, only BurgerMeister in the Castro does better. I'm hoping to try their bacon sundae sometime.
