About

Regulars swear by the yellow curry chicken at this Thai spot tucked above the Castro's 18th Street bustle. The sticky rice with mango is a standout dessert, and the waiters draw as much attention as the food. One reviewer calls it "my corner Thai place" and eats there constantly. The atmosphere is relaxed, with a crowd that's reliably good-looking — a local favorite for a casual meal. Lunch hours are short (2pm cut-off), but dinner runs till 9pm most days. Saturdays close a bit earlier at 8:30pm, and Sundays have a break between 3pm and 4pm. If you're craving dessert after, Bi-Rite Creamery is a short walk away.

Prices are moderate, and the menu covers all the Thai classics. Weekday lunch is your best bet for a quieter visit, while evenings draw a livelier mix of neighborhood regulars. The dining room sits above street level, giving it a slightly hidden feel even though it's right in the heart of the Castro.

“Good Thai on Castro”

This is one of the better Thai spots in the Castro. They have a good range of dishes at reasonable prices. Definitely order the sticky rice with mango dessert, it's really tasty.

“Great Thai food, cute crowd”

Thai House Express is my go to local Thai restaurant since I live in the Castro, and I've eaten there countless times. The food is excellent, maybe not the absolute best Thai I've had, but close. I suggest the yellow curry chicken, though I don't recall the exact name. The place is always full of attractive people, and the waitstaff are easy on the eyes too.
