“Coffee house with Karma”
Order a simple black coffee while you browse the extensive drink menu written on the chalkboard. If it's not listed, just ask. The food is delicious. I always come here first when visiting town. The crowd is diverse, the vibe is friendly, and nobody meddles. Relax and take it easy.

“Save the Ritual”
This place is great for everyone. The music is excellent, and there's an open mic one Thursday each month. The food is amazing, and the staff are always nice. This is definitely a spot Des Moines should work to keep around, even when times are tight economically.

Ritual is actually on the west side of downtown, west of the river. It's worth visiting for the incredible experience.
