About
Open since 1862, Cafe du Monde is a New Orleans original serving beignets and cafe-au-lait. This French Quarter institution keeps things simple: three freshly made beignets per plate, plus coffee and other drinks. The outdoor seating lets you watch the street scene while you eat.
The line looks long but moves fast, locals say. It's a budget-friendly spot, with late hours until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Grab extra napkins before you dig into that powdered sugar.

Be prepared for long queues, but the payoff is definitely worth it. It can be loud, but the food is delicious.

“Classic NOLA experience”
It's a little touristy, but you have to go for the beignets and café au lait. It's a historic spot in its own right.

“YUMMY!”
If you've visited New Orleans, you're already familiar with Cafe Du Monde. If not, you'll discover it on your next trip. This French Quarter institution offers a simple menu: three freshly made beignets per plate at a low price. Most people order the Cafe Au Lait, though other drinks are available. That's all there is, but it's all you need. I remember having about an hour before we had to leave, and we decided to grab some beignets. It put a final smile on our faces before we departed. I can't wait to go back.

“Beignets et Café au lait!”
In my five days in New Orleans, I visited at least four times. The best was getting beignets to take out and eating them while sitting in Jackson Square.
