About

Bar: Full bar

What sets Café Sebastienne apart is its location inside the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, where rotating installations surround your table. This American cafe has served Kansas City since 1994, offering lunch and Sunday brunch in two distinctive spaces: an intimate room with Frederick James Brown's immersive paintings, and a bright courtyard filled with natural light. The food is described as innovative, with soups, salads, sandwiches, and pizzas on the menu. It's a trendy spot for a lunch date, though the atrium can get loud — reservations are accepted, and there's a full bar. Yelp suggests it may be permanently closed, so check before visiting.

Located in the Plaza neighborhood, Café Sebastienne is a short drive from the Country Club Plaza's shops and restaurants.

“Hi tech and innovative!”

This restaurant is inside the Kemper Museum of Art, which focuses on modern works. The space is small, but the food is remarkably creative and uses advanced techniques. They're open mainly for lunch and draw a trendy, influential crowd. The sandwiches and soups are very tasty.

“Great lunch date”

The cafe offers a tasty selection of items like soups, salads, sandwiches, and pizzas. Being inside an art museum provides plenty of visual interest, but the atrium where you eat can get pretty noisy due to the acoustics. It's a nice place for a lunch date; dinner is only available Friday and Saturday, but there are better options if you want a more appealing evening out.
