About

Angel Falls Coffee Company is open daily from 7am to 9pm (Sundays from 9am), making it a reliable stop for coffee any day of the week. This gay-owned shop serves Venezuelan coffee and mulled cider in the Highland Square neighborhood, drawing a mixed gay-straight crowd. The atmosphere is more bright than dark, with a counter overlooking Market Street. There's outdoor seating and free wifi, plus plenty of room to spread out with friends or study.

The crowd here tends toward the feminine side, and some regulars describe it as a place for the "sophisticated" set. If you're looking for an alternative to chain coffee shops, it's worth a visit. Grab a drink and watch the neighborhood go by. If you're hungry later, Dante Boccuzzi Akron is nearby for dinner.

“Cool for A-Town”

This establishment might be considered fancy by local standards, but the coffee tastes bad and the atmosphere is sterile and boring. The seating is uncomfortable and poorly arranged. The men's restroom is excessively feminine, which I find off-putting, and the clientele seems full of themselves and overly intellectual. I'd pick Starbucks over this place, even though I'm not a big Starbucks fan.

“Too bright, too shiny”

The coffeehouse leans heavily feminine, which is fine if you're feminine or attracted to that, but as a man I felt uncomfortable surrounded by the kind of pretentious men they call 'sophisticated' back home. Honestly, I'd rather go to Starbucks.

“I am often in this funky little place”

There's a laid-back vibe, and you can stay for hours chatting. I often meet new guys here and feel free to be myself. I don't drink coffee, but the desserts are great.

“A nice place for a gay-friendly afternoon”

I used to study here when I was at the university in this city. The coffee is okay, not the best; my favorite is another place up north. However, it's fairly comfortable and convenient for meeting friends or checking out the local LGBTQ crowd. They offer a wide selection of drinks and plenty of seating, plus a counter overlooking the street. I tend to prefer darker, funkier coffeehouses, but for this area, Angel Falls is a nice gay-friendly option worth trying if you usually go to the big chains.
