About

Walking into Cattleman's Steakhouse, you're stepping into a straightforward cowboy environment that has been serving the cattle industry since 1910. Located in the middle of Stockyards City, this old-fashioned steakhouse offers huge steaks at reasonable prices. The menu includes a notorious specialty: lamb fries, which are actually cow testicles. Reviews suggest the food and service can be hit or miss, with some finding the prime rib fatty and the waitstaff slow.

Cattleman's does not take reservations, and the waiting area is outside, so dress for the weather. Hours run from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm most days, with extended hours until midnight on weekends (unconfirmed). If you're exploring Stockyards City, you could also check out Bricktown Brewery for a different vibe.

“cattle country”

We were in cattle country and anticipated top quality. The wait was lengthy. They don't take reservations and there's nowhere to wait; you have to stand outside, so if it's cold, you'll be freezing. We both got prime rib, but the meat was fatty and tough. This place isn't great, just average.

“Don't believe the hype”

We heard a lot of hype about this place, but it was nothing special and pretty out of the way. The restaurant is rundown. The servers might be called old school, but we found them slow and unhelpful. We tried the famous lamb fries, which turned out to be cow testicles. They were tasteless and mushy, disgusting. The salad was soaked in oil. The steak was overpriced and bland. I've had better meals at Outback Steakhouse. When we left, they told us to hurry up and not linger outside because the area was unsafe at night. What the hell?
