About
Reading Terminal Market is open daily from 8am to 6pm, making it an ideal spot for a breakfast or lunch stop before exploring Philadelphia. Housed in a National Historic Landmark building since 1893, this public market is one of the largest and oldest farmers markets in America. You'll find over 80 vendors offering everything from farm-fresh produce and meats to international cuisine including Mediterranean, Mexican, pizza, seafood, Cajun-Creole, sandwiches, coffee, and Japanese. The market is a true crossroads of the city, drawing people from all walks of life.
Insider tip: come Wednesday through Saturday to catch the Amish merchants from Lancaster County with their fresh baked goods and specialties. The market can get crowded, but the food is fast and good. You can grab a bite, browse kitchenware or crafts, and enjoy a beer or wine with your meal. It's a short walk from most gay bars in Philly, so it's a convenient meet-up spot or a morning-after brunch destination. Free wifi is available throughout.
Located in Washington Square West, Reading Terminal Market is just a few blocks from City Hall and close to many of Philadelphia's gay bars.

“One of Philadelphia's true gems”
This is truly where the city converges – people from every background and area come for fresh goods from local sellers, including excellent produce, meat, and fish. There are also plenty of excellent spots to eat. Plan your visit from Wednesday to Saturday to catch the local farmers and artisans who travel from nearby rural areas.

“nice place to see lots of people and to eat”
It was extremely busy with a diverse mix of people on any day I visited – I went twice during my four-day trip. It's an amazing grocery store with many food stalls mixed in. I ate there and the food was quick and tasty.
