It might look like just another hip urban cafe, but Cafe 4 is actually three things at once: a restaurant, a bakery, and a coffee bar. Southern-style comfort food gets an eclectic twist here, and the coffee comes from local roaster The Golden Roast. The weekend brunch is popular, with $5 Bloody Marys and Mega-Mosas from 9am to 2:45pm Saturday and Sunday.
The owners helped kick-start downtown Knoxville's revival back in 2008, and the place still feels like a local anchor. The mezzanine loft is a solid spot to nurse a coffee and use the free wifi.
