Rosario's Mexican Café Y Cantina (Southtown)

About

Friday and Saturday nights bring live bands to Rosario's Mexican Café Y Cantina, where the music can get loud enough to compete with the chatter of a mixed gay and straight crowd. This women-led Southtown staple has been serving Mexican food and margaritas for three decades, staying a go-to for groups and families despite a recent renovation that some say left the interior feeling outdated.

You'll find better Mexican food elsewhere in San Antonio, say reviewers, but Rosario's remains a solid spot for conversation and appetizers. It sits near King William and the gay strip, drawing a regular mix of gay couples and locals who appreciate the hot waitstaff and consistent happy hour deals.

Rosario's is located in Southtown, close to King William and the city's gay strip, making it a convenient spot for a mixed crowd of locals and visitors.

“Rosario's NO LONGER Hip and Happening”

UPDATE: THE RECENT RENOVATION HAS MADE THE INTERIOR LOOK DATED. IT'S NO LONGER THE HIP, TRENDING SPOT IT USED TO BE. Even though the bands can be quite loud on Friday and Saturday nights, this is a wonderful spot to socialize with both gay and straight friends. My partner and I visit often, and there are regularly other gay couples around. The waitstaff are very attractive! I enjoy the chicken enchilada with mole sauce and a margarita, of course.
