About
Kramers is open daily, making it a go-to for breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and late-night cravings in Dupont Circle. The space combines a landmark bookstore with an upscale cafe, offering American fare like omelets, burgers, and Belgian waffles in a lively, casual setting.
The glass-enclosed patio cafe feels airy and can open up in warm weather, perfect for lingering over coffee or a cocktail. Regulars recommend the desserts and the bookstore's extensive gay and lesbian section. While some nearby gay landmarks have closed, Kramers remains a staple of Dupont's eclectic character.

“Great Value and Innovative Cuisine”
The sweets here are always something I look forward to. I've been a regular for over 25 years, both while living in Washington and after moving away. I adore the bookstore and cafe combination.

“Great place to chill”
This is an excellent spot for some alone time. The ambiance really encourages you to stay a while with coffee and a light snack while reading or relaxing. The bookstore part is also worth browsing. Unfortunately, the area has declined with the closure of several queer-friendly spots. Kramerbooks remains a symbol of how diverse and stylish Dupont Circle once was.

“Yummy Breakfast!”
Dupont Circle lacks breakfast options on weekdays, but Kramerbooks is a wonderful exception. The menu was concise but included tasty omelets, eggs benedict, and other breakfast standards (my whole-wheat waffle was excellent!). The cafe is a glass-enclosed patio that can open in summer; the decor is simple but pleasant. Good service and cheerful patrons made for a nice morning. Afterward, you can explore the fantastic bookstore, which has everything from queer fiction to political books.
